Calvià, 10th of November 2020
Collaboration Agreement between Port Adriano and the Fundació Deixalles.
On November 5th, a collaboration agreement was signed in Port Adriano between Ocibar S.A, the company that manages the Calvià marina, and the Fundació Deixalles.
On behalf of the foundation, Francesca Martí and the director of operations for Port Adriano.
This agreement is based on the recovery by the Fundació Deixalles of various elements discarded by boats and commercial premises in the Port Adriano green point. Elements such as electronic equipment and furniture will have a “second life” after being repaired and reused by the various waste prevention centres that the Foundation owns.
Port Adriano places this agreement within the Circular Economy project, which it is already developing, and in this case focuses its objective on reducing the volume of waste generated by the port, and thus extending the useful life cycle of the different products collected at its Green Point.
Numerous social and environmental benefits are also to be drawn from this collaboration, among which the following should be noted
– Savings in the consumption of raw materials and CO2 emissions that reuse entails and their contribution to the fight against climate change.
– The work generated for people from vulnerable groups, an aspect that the Fundació Deixalles particularly highlights.
As an example of the benefits obtained, the reuse of a fridge allows for the generation of 3 days of work with an insertion contract and avoids 267 kg of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
