“Discover the marine world”, and that´s what they did! The resident kids of El Toro during the week from 31/08 to 04/09 in a summer course organized by Port Adriano. During the mornings 14 kids between 5 and 11 years old, learned a little more about the sea that surrounds us with teacher Laura Royo; she is a passionate oceanographer that divulgates the science and nature. During that last week the kids did a tour around questions such as, How do affect us the sea around us? Where does the fish we eat comes from? What can we find in a beach, natural or artificial elements? What is a marine reserve? Which species are from the Mediterranean and which not? Invasive species, how do they get here? To answer all these questions the kids played at the beach, in the classroom with games, theater acts, marine landscapes and much more…
Many thanks to the team of Mar Balear, specially to Carlos, and also to Natalia Martín, in charge of the communication of the unit IMEDEA (Institute of advance studies of the Mediterranean) that help us to understand better which are the exotic invasive species and that also gave us a scientific kit of the project @ojo a las invasoras ( Watch out for the invasive species)
And to all that made this “Discover the Marine World” course possible, we hope to continue doing more activities throughout the year and next summer.
A big Hurray! for the 14 great kids that attended the course: Tommy, Tomeu, Amelia, Emily, Mia, Sophia, Clara, Paula, Eric, Lluis, Luke, Kyle, Martina and Nico.
See you soon #Marinelovers!!
