The Classic Car event of the year in Mallorca #MCW2017

The event “Mallorca Classic Week by Port Adriano”, carried out its second edition, overcoming the expectations of its organizers and participants. Over 3000 visitors gathered at Port Adriano between September 20th and 24th, to enjoy a meeting full with authentic motor pieces worth admiring, spectacular jewels of collection that go beyond the luxury, emphasizing its quality and uniqueness in one of the most important concentrations of the moment, an event that aspires to turn into one of the “musts “events in Europe for the lovers of the classic cars.
100 were the participant’s cars from 7 countries that registered to take part in the different programmed activities, showing its best pieces to the spectators. Between them a Chevrolet Corvette C1 of 1960 that arrived from Berlin; a BMW 503 of 1957 straight from Düsseldorf; a ChevroletBel Air Convertible of 1957; a FordT hunderbird Series 1 of 1957; a microcar PTV of 1959; etc. Also they were present a score of Jaguar XK and Jaguar E-Type, belonging to the Jaguar Enthusiasts ‘Club, which its owners led straight from the United Kingdom up to the island.
These jewels coexisted with such classic ships like the Spirit of Caribbean, Freda or a Riva of the 60s, combining both worlds and creating a very special ambience.
One of the most outstanding presences was undoubtedly that of Rolls-Royce, who bet for the presentation of the new Phantom of eighth generation. The luxurious limousine in its most modern form, establishes a new standard of quality of conduction, acoustic comfort, interior service ability exterior and interior design. Ruth Hucklenbroich, Director of Corporate Communication of Rolls-Royce in Central Europe, praised especially that “For the first time we are combining an event of this magnitude and so charismatic with a commercial exhibition”.
American festival
Inside the programmed agenda, there was a marvelous concentration of more than 75 American classic cars, brought by the American Car Club Mallorca, with a fabulous show of Elvis, musician Swing and Country music and a contest of Pin-up Girls. The winners were chosen by its clothing and skill in the dance but especially by the girl’s best Pin-up characterization.

Concours International d’Elégance

The most outstanding event took place on Saturday, the 23rd of September, was the Concours d’Elégance, a spectacular parade of historical motorcars. Approximately 50 classic cars took part in this international contest, in which the most beautiful classic cars paraded along the port.
Some of the prize-winning categories were “Iconic Design”, “Rally and Racing”, “Cars Before the War”, “Fresh Air“, or “Mini Car”, “Celebrity Cars” and “Best of Show”. The different models were evaluated by a strict jury headed by H.H Prince Leopoldo of Bavaria.
The passion of the owners and drivers that was also part of the jury´s evaluation, with its love for the classic aesthetics of the motor car, they preserve the whole elegance of its vehicles. Rolls Royce Concept Car 10EX of 1926, the most ancient concept car of the world with 90 years of age and prepared on the base of a Phantom I, convinced the jury and he was rewarded by the coveted trophy of the category “Best of Show Russel Stevens Award” to Philip Koehn, the Director of Engineering of Rolls he quoted: “This award is a big honor for us. It shows how important our history is. The historical models of the Phantom have influenced decisively in the today models, with innovations an outstanding design and extraordinary engineering yield that today, how then, there are all models icons of the motoring”.
Majorca “Crime Drive” Tour
On Sunday, the 24th of September the Mallorca Tourist Route was on, featuring de “Crime Drive”. About 40 classic cars, met at Port Adriano to begin a tourist route for the south-west of the island, with stop in the Gardens of Alfàbia, which included a game of detectives in that the participants had to solve a theft mystery.

The NGO ‘Majorca Sense Fam’ that took part as one of the collaborating partners, organized a great raffle with numerous prizes, of which a trip to La Mans Classic Circuit with VIP access was given. The president of the NOG Mallorca Sense Fam, Catalina Aguiló, handed over the prize sponsored by Travel Destinations, official agency that manages trips to fans of classic cars from UK , and thanked its spokesperson Hellen Burman, for their collaboration as well as to other companies that got involved to improve the life’s of those in need in Mallorca.

Fundació Mallorca Turisme

Consell Balear gave support to Mallorca Classic Week 2017 with the Fundació Turisme de Mallorca that consolidate its importance in this event of the economy and the tourism in Majorca.

Mallorca Classic Week by Port Adriano2018 is already in the works, the event will take place between 19 on September 23.
