Calvià, 25 of August 2019

It has have been two unique weeks where the Mallorcan port, once again, has offered its facilities to give visibility to a different initiative that has been very popular since its first edition thanks to its powerful image that breaks with traditional markets.

From 12th to 25th August, the port welcomed the third edition of the Aftersun Pop up Market experience, dedicated to decoration and lifestyle on this ocasion. Aftersun moves away from conventional brands and bets on premium Mediterranean brands with a strong load on design.  In addition to a market, Aftersun is a showroom in which to discover new brands and talents Balearic and Mediterranean. Interior design studios, decoration brands with unique, handmade and exclusive pieces, clothes and complements made in Ibiza with a different air, organic cosmetics and niche.

An original market in front of the port that uses industrial containers placed along the new promenade area of Port Adriano. In addition to this authentic staging, the lighting has also been made ad-hoc for this market.

Other experiences

Of course, Aftersun has been full of activities away from shopping, which have provided a powerful experiential offer. A complete agenda that offered every day different events ranging from new musical proposals with new indie groups of the island with national projection in a “cool down” format, with drinks tastings in tune with the different events, children’s painting activities on new sustainable materials, furniture upcycling workshops, sports training, yoga sessions or children’s experiences inspired by fictional characters.

Art

Art was also present in Aftersun market as part of the DNA of the market. In addition to the surprising mural made on three stacked 6m containers made by the local artist Javier Garló, which decorated from the height of the main square, we could find the charming inflatables of the Australian Amanda Parer being part of this peculiar and very personal staging. Photographer Laura Molina shows in a container an interesting exhibition of architectural and interior photography and Port Adriano showed the winners of the “I enjoy you enjoy” photography contest held last year.

Participating bands were Sofia Capital, a project between members of L.A. and Izal that will have its official presentation in September, and the concert by Lava Fizz, a Mallorcan band with an increasingly important projection.
